Floating — Advanced Online Poker
Floating means calling with position to take the pot later — often without a strong hand. Advanced play: learn hand rankings, position, and bluffing first.
What is a float?
Opponent raises pre-flop; you call to see the flop. They c-bet; you call again, planning to win on turn/river or bluff later.
When it works
- Dry boards (A-high, K-high rainbow)
- Opponent c-bets too much
- You have position (button vs EP)
- Heads-up or two-way pot
Risks
- Too many floats bleed chips
- Plan to fold if they barrel turn
- Respect bankroll limits
