Floating — Advanced Online Poker

Floating means calling with position to take the pot later — often without a strong hand. Advanced play: learn hand rankings, position, and bluffing first.

What is a float?

Opponent raises pre-flop; you call to see the flop. They c-bet; you call again, planning to win on turn/river or bluff later.

When it works

  • Dry boards (A-high, K-high rainbow)
  • Opponent c-bets too much
  • You have position (button vs EP)
  • Heads-up or two-way pot

Risks

  • Too many floats bleed chips
  • Plan to fold if they barrel turn
  • Respect bankroll limits
